I would love to know which air defence equipment France, Great Britain, Romania and the US are delivering to Ukraine as part of the German initiative. The Spanish contribution are most likely (not confirmed) the few Patriot missiles delivered some time ago.

The so far unknown contributors that were made public today are: Belgium (for military aid), France, Great Britain, Romania, Spain, USA & Norway. The German MoD also announced that Latvia plans to join the IAAD initiative.

BREAKING — The German Ministry of Defence just published a new list of countries contributing to the German IAAD initiative, which aims to strengthen the Ukrainian air defence.
1/X
Apparently, there are far more commitments to the German air defence initiative (IAAD) than we previously knew. According to Germany's Minister of Foreign Affairs Annalena Baerbock, countries have made financial pledges totalling ~ €1 billion.

Leopard 1A5DK-V oder eine ähnliche Abwandlung würde da mehr Sinn ergeben denke ich.
In the recent months, there were many reports of the Leopard 1A5s being modified with reactive armour due to their comparably weak armour. Well, the Ukrainians did it! First image just surfaced.
Reiner Haseloff ist Ministerpräsident von Sachsen-Anhalt. Also wie Pistorius ein Politiker, daher war ich mir am Anfang nicht so sicher, ob du den Musiker oder den Politiker meintest ^^
BILD also announced that Germany plans to spend €15 billion on military aid to Ukraine next year, which would be a record sum.
3/3
He met with Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Minister of Finance Christian Lindner on Wednesday and Thursday. The proposal is to be submitted to parliament for approval in June.
2/3
According to BILD information, only ~ €300 million of the ~ €7.1 billion budgeted for military aid to #Ukraine in 2024 are not yet contracted/planned for. Therefore, Minister of Defence Boris Pistorius demanded an additional €3.8 billion for military aid this year!

Russia is continuing to attack medical sites, equipment, and personnel. At the beginning of May, one of the Mercedes-Benz Unimog ambulances supplied from Bundeswehr stocks was destroyed by a Russian missile. Gladly, no loss of personnel of the 95th Air Assault Brigade.
Bislang ist nur eine einzige öffentlich zugesagt (Deutschland). Alles andere hängt von diversen Faktoren ab.
The Immediate Action on Air Defence initiative was launched ~ 5 weeks ago by the Federal Foreign Office and the MoD. The aim is to strengthen Ukrainian air defence in the short term — primarily with additional Patriot batteries, but also with other air defence systems, equipment & missiles.
/end
She did not disclose which countries had joined the initiative or what would be done with the funds. However, it can be assumed that at least one Patriot battery would be purchased and delivered to Ukraine if other countries were willing to do give up one of their existing batteries.
5/X
However, at least Canada's funds are already firmly earmarked for the procurement of IRIS-T (SL) missiles which will be delivered to Ukraine in the following weeks.
4/X
So far, we knew about pledges totalling ~ €536 million, which were made by Belgium (€200 million), the Netherlands (€150 million), Denmark (€134 million), and Canada (~ €52 million).
3/X
This is in addition to Germany's pledge to provide Ukraine with a further Patriot battery and Lithuania's commitment to supply six AMBER-1800 air surveillance radars.

Some of the 18 German-delivered Leopard 2A6 MBTs are still on the hunt! Images published today by the 10th Army Corps with reference to the 21st Separate Mechanised Brigade which is AFAIK not even part of the 10th Army Corps.
“Likely lost their second THeMIS UGV” means that they already lost another THeMIS UGV two months ago in a very similar location, but I think the trees in the image of the captured THeMIS are much thicker than the ones shown at the location of the first loss, so I don't think it's the same UGV.

7 for CASEVAC and 7 as route clearance configuration (ROCUS), with payloads from the French defense manufacturer CNIM Systèmes Industriels. The now caputured THeMIS is for CASEVAC, but without the stretcher, it's basically just a cargo variant which gets used to transport equipment to soldiers.
3/X
IIRC Ukraine got 15 of these Estonian-made UGVs, one got crowdfunded, while another 14 were financed by Germany in two different variants.
2/X
The AFU have (likely) lost their second THeMIS UGV, as Russian soldiers have captured this UGV somewhere on the front line and are therefore likely to collect the Russian bounty of two million roubles.
1/X
The same has already been done successfully with Egypt, when Egypt was persuaded to give up its first two IRIS-T SLM systems so they could be delivered to Ukraine instead. This is also the reason two of the three IRIS-T SLM systems in Ukraine have a special sand camo instead of green.
4/4
A delivery to Ukraine would still not take place for several years and would have to be financed externally. However, this is not the first time that Germany has taken such a path.
3/4
According to her, the Swiss government had not yet discussed this subject, so she could only confirm the talks and thus the German enquiry.
2/4
During her visit to Germany, President of the Swiss Confederation Viola Amherd confirmed that Germany's Minister of Defence Boris Pistorius is in talks with her about Switzerland giving up its purchased (not yet delivered) Patriot batteries for #Ukraine.

An overview of the initiative 🔽
Germany: 1 Patriot battery
Lithuania: 6 AMBER-1800 air surveillance radars
Belgium: €200 million
The Netherlands: €150 million
Denmark: €134 million (for financing a Patriot battery) Canada: ~€52 million (for financing IRIS-T (SL) missiles)
2/2
According to the German Minister of Defence Boris Pistorius, Lithuania is contributing to the German IAAD initiative which aims to strengthen the Ukrainian air defence with six AMBER-1800 air surveillance radars. He did not provide any further details such as a planned delivery date.
1/2
UPDATE: Denmark will finance €134 million, not €150 million. I mistook euros for dollars and made a conversion error. I'm sorry about the confusion.
If, for example, no further batteries are supplied by the US, Ukraine can still look forward to two new Patriot batteries from Germany available from June/July, one of which was financed with foreign funds.

For 18. gang sender Danmark en donation afsted til Ukraine.

Likely means that other countries are not even interested in supplying a Patriot battery to Ukraine for money, or they are demanding much more money than Germany.
4/X
The only other contribution to the German initiative — Canada with ~€52 million — will be used to purchase IRIS-T (SL) missiles, I therefore don't think that more money will be required. So Germany will donate a battery to Ukraine and sell another one to Ukraine with Belgian-Danish-Dutch funds.
3/X
Since the Dutch contribution (€150 million) and the Belgian contribution (€200 million) are not yet allocated to a specific use case, it can be assumed that Germany will sell another Patriot battery to Ukraine for €150 million to €500 million thanks to Belgium, Denmark, and the Netherlands.
2/X
🧵 — That's interesting. Apparently, the Danish contribution to the German IAAD initiative which aims to strengthen the Ukrainian air defence will be €150 million. The Danish funds will be used to support the purchase of a German Patriot battery!

The network is said to have been managed in the background by Viktor Medvedchuk, a friend of Russian Dictator Vladimir Putin.
3/3
The background to this is information from Czech intelligence services that Russia-friendly candidates for the European elections in June received covert financial support — including the German MP Bystron. Audio and video recordings are also said to exist as evidence.
2/3
Because he is accused of having received money from the pro-Russian propaganda network “Voice of Europe”, the immunity of Bundestag member Petr Bystron (AfD) has been lifted. His parliamentary office is being searched. Properties in Bavaria and Mallorca are also being searched.

Die Flaggen von zum Beispiel Tschechien und Norwegen zählen nicht? Nicht böse gemeint, aber man kann es auch übertreiben :).
Note on the planned joint venture: However, it is likely to be at least another year or two before the production can begin and all prior steps like signing the MoU, setting up the JV have been taken. No further details have been announced.
2/2
Rheinmetall CEO Papperger announced at yesterday's Annual General Meeting that they plan to establish another joint venture in #Ukraine in the field of air defence.
He also announced that the currently pledged 40 Marder 1A3 IFVs will be delivered to Ukraine starting this month until September.

Background info: In September 2023, Hamburg's senate agreed on supporting Ukraine with mine and ordnance clearance eqipment. More than 9.5 million euros are being used to procure modern equipment and deliver it to Ukraine. In order to realise this, the legal framework was changed last year.
3/3
Further mine clearance equipment is to be delivered in the course of 2024, including 20 bomb protection suits and 10 manipulators for transporting and destroying IEDs.
2/3
Today, a first GCS-200 remote-controlled demining machine was handed over by Hamburg's Senator of the Interior to the Ukrainian Ambassador to Germany. Starting in June, it will be used for mine clearance in Ukraine. Three more GCS-200s will be delivered to Ukraine by August.

A Ukrainian sniper showed one of the German-delivered MK 556 assault rifles. In total, Germany has delivered 985 of these assault rifles and pledged to deliver another 4,015 in the future. Ukrainian special forces are being trained on these rifles in Germany by the German KSK.
In my latest article, I tried to give you an overview of the developments over the last few months and the current state of repair and maintenance work of German-made weapon systems in #Ukraine and abroad. I also tried not to go into too much detail.
